Lance Dyll wins hospital’s $634,240 50/50 draw

Hospital foundation has brought in more than $2.2 million over three draws since launching the lottery in January.

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s Lance Dyll is the winner of Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Foundation’s $634,240 50/50 draw.

Reached by hospital foundation president and CEO Glenn Craig, Dyll could hardly believe his ears when told.

“What?” he asked.

“Six-hundred-and-thirty-four thousand, two-hundred-and-forty dollars,” Craig repeated.

“Sorry, is this a joke?” asked Dyll, well known to local media from his communications role with a local health agency.

“Nope,” Craig said.

“Yeah, uh, that’s crazy,” Dyll later replied, seconds after confirming he had the winning ticket.

“That’s absolutely crazy.”

The third monthly draw brings the foundation’s 50/50 share of the total to more than $2.4 million.

The fourth draw will be held on May 28, with half of the proceeds going to the prize pot and the other half being used to buy equipment at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Tickets, which must be purchased while in Ontario, are five for $10, 30 for $20 and 150 for $50. They’re available at www.thunderbay5050.ca.
