Vereshchuk: Government preparing for repeated Russian attacks on energy facilities

Ukraine’s authorities are preparing for repeated Russian attacks on energy infrastructure objects.”We are not predicting a large migration [from Ukraine] this winter. But we are definitely preparing for the fact that the enemy can fire on our energy infrastructure facilities, civilian facilities. So, we understand what the government will do,” Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said during the United News national telethon, Ukrinform reports with reference to Suspilne.

Vereshchuk specified that this issue had been discussed at the meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine which was held in Ivano-Frankivsk: “Today we discussed the details with the local self-government, regional authorities – what more needs to be done to make this heating season go smoothly.”

According to the government official, infrastructure was deployed in the western regions of Ukraine that will be able to receive displaced persons if such a need arises.

“There is a developed infrastructure. About more than 20,000 places… in Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, and Ternopil regions. But today, questions about shelters were also raised: the number and quality of such shelters,” the Deputy PM said.

She added that the President had set a clear task to prepare the shelters, and if necessary, to facilitate the government’s help in everything possible to make them work.

As reported, Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Ivano-Frankivsk on July 30.
